All children have ready access to our comprehensive school library. Library day can vary so please check with your child’s class teacher if you are unsure. Children are strongly encouraged to borrow books. Prep to year 3 children must have a library bag if they wish to borrow a book from the library.

Opening hours

Students have lunchtime access from 1.00-1.25pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

The library comprises of a number of resource collections, Junior Fiction picture books,

Fiction, Senior picture books, Non-Fiction, Teacher Reference, Big Books, C2C –specific unit resources and games.

Student loans

Years P-1 – one book. Library bag necessary.

Years 2-6 – two books.

The school encourages recreational reading and library borrowing. Time is made available during class library borrowing sessions for loans, however students are also encouraged to get into the habit of managing their own loan requirements at lunchtimes as well.

Overdue loans and student transfers

Please return overdue library books to the school as soon as possible. Overdue library book lists are generated and notes will be sent home as a reminder. If you know your child is transferring to a new school, please return all school property to the school including any home readers and library books.

AV equipment

Each double teaching space has an allocated camera available for use for classroom tasks and documentation. Classroom teachers also have access to a laptop trolley with multiple laptops that can be used by students for various in class tasks.

Extra library services

We facilitate ordering and delivery of Queensland Museum resource kits, inter-library loans and displays.

The "Story Time @ Moore Park School" program is also conducted from the library for 0-5 year old children.

The library also has various thematic displays throughout each year. These always attract a lot of interest and comment from the students.

Library policy

The school Library Operational Policy document which details operational policy and procedures is available for viewing.

Library statistics

Our library circulation system is able to produce borrowing data for every student, for example, number of books borrowed and titles of books borrowed. Should you like such data, it can be provided upon request.

Students keep a tally of how many books they borrow per year with a borrowing incentive offered to each student. Certificates are earned for each 10, 20 and 40+ books that are borrowed.
