At Moore Park Beach State School students from Prep to Year Six participate in one 45 minute lesson each week. Students in Year Three and above are expected to have a recorder for their music lessons.
Instrumental Music
Instrumental Music at Moore Park Beach State School is a Brass, Woodwind and Percussion program that involves students from Year Four upwards. The program follows the Department of Education, Training and Employment's guidelines for class size and course books.
Children are offered the chance to audition for places in the instrumental music program. The children are then offered a position in the program depending on the instruments available and class sizes. Students who are participating have two contact periods a week. A group lesson of half an hour on a rotational timetable and when they reach a suitable standard they are expected to attend band rehearsal before school from 8.00am to 8.40am on the instrumental day. Students will be expected to attend Instrumental Music Workshops at different times throughout the year.
Choir
Our school has two choirs; a junior choir and a senior choir. These choirs practise before school some mornings. The choirs perform at many events, including the Moore Park Beach Arts Festival, Bundy Crush, Choral Festival, ANZAC day ceremonies (both at school and in the town ceremony), Moore Park Beach Carols and our school Cultural Night. The students are expected to participate in all performances.
