Behaviour Management

As a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, Moore Park has three main rules/ expectations. They are:

  • Respect
  • Safety
  • Responsibility

These are reinforced through our ‘Flipper’ logo which is placed in every room, eating area and main meeting areas throughout our school. All behaviour is reinforced through direct reference to these three rules and our Flipper Logo. Staff discuss these rules, explicitly teach them and model them in their daily interactions with students.

When staff recognise students making positive behaviour choices that reflect our school rules they will receive a ‘Flipper’. These accumulate over time and are used for individual and class rewards and incentives.

Minor and Major behaviour concerns are referred to Admin for a conference and for consequences to be applied. This referral system allows us to identify any potential patterns, recurring issues and develop specific support.

Why is PBL important? Positive behaviour is vital in order to maintain a safe and engaging educational environment where students and staff feel valued and respected and reach their full potential.

More information can be found in our PBL brochure (PDF 349Kb) .

Moore Park State School has a Responsible Behaviour Plan (PDF 978KB) for students which is based on the Code of School Behaviour.

Moore Park State School is committed to providing a safe, respectful and disciplined learning environment for students and staff, where students have opportunities to engage in quality learning experiences and acquire values supportive of their lifelong wellbeing.

This Responsible Behaviour Plan for students is designed to facilitate high standards of behaviour so that the learning and teaching in our school can be effective and students can participate positively within our school community.

Our Responsible Behaviour Plan outlines our system for facilitating positive behaviours, preventing problem behaviour and responding to unacceptable behaviours.  Through our school plan, shared expectations for student behaviour are plain to everyone, assisting Moore Park State School to create and maintain a positive and productive learning and teaching environment.
